Atlanta is preparing to roll out a cinematic red carpet to Nepal this Saturday, November 8, as the documentary ZERO TO 8848 makes its global premiere at AMC North DeKalb Mall 16 from 12 PM to 3 PM. The event has already drawn distinguished attention, with the Mayor of the City of Clarkston, Beverly H. Burks, officially confirming her attendance. For Nepal’s tourism revival, the screening is being hailed as more than a premiere – it is a symbolic sunrise.

ZERO TO 8848 is the product of four years of relentless exploration, weaving Nepal’s entire vertical spectrum into a single visual journey. It begins at Kachankawal, the nation’s lowest point at 58 meters, and ascends all the way to the crown of the world, Mount Everest at 8,848 meters. The film doesn’t merely track altitude. It carries the pulse of the land: its cultures, art forms, mountain-born traditions, ancient architectures, and the generational wisdom safeguarded by the communities who live in Nepal’s extraordinary landscapes.

The documentary blends environmental consciousness with the fierce willpower of human endeavor, transforming it into far more than a geographical narrative. It becomes, instead, a portrait of a country’s spirit – Nepal rendered in moving light.

At the heart of this ambitious project stands co-producer Govinda Gurung, whose vision has shaped the film into a strategic cultural offering to the world. Gurung’s role extends far beyond creation; he is steering a larger mission to reposition Nepal on the global tourism stage. His leadership has helped bridge Nepali identity with international audiences, especially in influential markets like the United States. Tourism experts describe the film as a catalytic signal for the resurgence of adventure, cultural, and eco-based tourism in Nepal.

The documentary features internationally renowned figures such as Tendi Sherpa, Pushkar Shah, Conrad Anker, and Clay Wadman, broadening the film’s global resonance. Directed by Niranjan Pandey, with co-direction and editing by Balaram Budhathoki, the film’s cinematography transforms Nepal’s terrain into a modern visual tapestry. Additional creative contributions from Umang Shahi, Suraj Gurung, Sujan Gurung, Keshav Neupane, and Dawa Sherpa strengthen its immersive force.

With an investment nearing one million USD, the 1-hour-46-minute documentary has been produced by Zero to 8848 Entertainment. Alongside Govinda Gurung, the film’s co-producers include Kapil Sharan Wagle, Rajendra Pandey, Alex Parajuli, Shriram Wagle, and Jai Narayan Sah. The executive producer is Shriram Wagle.

The world premiere in Atlanta is expected to reintroduce Nepal to the global spotlight not only as a land of adventure but as a convergence of natural grandeur, cultural depth, spiritual warmth, and environmental integrity. By binding these elements into a single narrative, ZERO TO 8848 positions Nepal as a “global icon” rather than merely a destination.

Ultimately, ZERO TO 8848 is not just a film about Nepal. It is Nepal’s invitation to the world: an open window to the quiet power of the Himalayas, the heartbeat of its cultures, and the serene magnificence of its landscapes. Standing at the forefront of this historic moment, Govinda Gurung emerges as one of the most influential champions of Nepal’s modern tourism renaissance.
