Kathmandu - Demonstrating deep mutual respect and an enduring spirit of partnership, the Government of India, through the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, has once again reaffirmed its strong commitment to Nepal by extending the second tranche of election-related assistance to the Government of Nepal. The support, comprising more than 250 SUVs and double-cab pickup vehicles, marks a significant step in strengthening institutional cooperation between the two close neighbours.
The ceremonial handover was conducted by the Charge d’affaires a.i. of India in Nepal in the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Finance of Nepal, Mr. Rameshore Prasad Khanal, and Acting Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Ram Prasad Bhandari, underscoring the high-level trust and coordination between the two governments.
Provided at the request of the Government of Nepal, this assistance reflects India’s respectful support for Nepal’s democratic process and its preparedness for the upcoming elections. Earlier, the first tranche of support was delivered on 20 January 2026, with additional consignments expected in the coming weeks, further highlighting India’s sustained and timely cooperation.
Nepal–India relations have long been rooted in shared history, open borders, cultural affinity and people-to-people ties. This latest gesture by the Government of India and the Indian Embassy stands as a powerful symbol of goodwill, reinforcing that the partnership between the two nations extends beyond diplomacy to practical collaboration in strengthening democratic institutions and governance.
Observers view this cooperation as a clear signal that Nepal and India remain committed to working together as trusted partners, respecting each other’s sovereignty while supporting mutual stability, democratic values and regional harmony. The role played by the Government of India and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu has been widely appreciated as an expression of friendship, reliability and neighbourly solidarity.
As Nepal moves forward with its electoral preparations, such cooperation sends a strong message that India-Nepal relations are not only stable but continuously evolving, guided by mutual respect, shared democratic ideals and a common vision for peace and prosperity in the region.
