Kathmandu, Nepal — In a significant demonstration of goodwill and partnership, the Government of India today ceremonially handed over the first tranche of election-related assistance to the Government of Nepal, reaffirming the strong and time-honoured bonds between the two neighbouring nations.
The assistance, comprising more than 60 double-cab pickup vehicles along with other essential logistical supplies, was formally handed over to the Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs of Nepal, Mr. Om Prakash Aryal, in Kathmandu. The handover was conducted by the Charge d’Affaires a.i. of India to Nepal from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
The vehicles and supplies form part of the broader support requested by the Government of Nepal to facilitate preparations for the upcoming elections. This initial delivery marks the beginning of a comprehensive assistance package, under which approximately 650 vehicles will be provided in phases over the coming weeks.
This generous and timely support underscores India’s unwavering respect for Nepal’s democratic institutions and its firm commitment to supporting free, fair, and credible elections. It also reflects the spirit of mutual trust, cooperation, and shared democratic values that have long defined India–Nepal relations.
The Government and people of Nepal have expressed deep appreciation for the Government of India’s continued support and solidarity. Such cooperation not only strengthens institutional capacity during critical democratic exercises but also further deepens the people-to-people ties that bind the two countries.
With this meaningful gesture, both nations renew their shared resolve to nurture an even stronger, more dynamic, and enduring partnership—one rooted in friendship, mutual respect, and collective progress.
Warm wishes are extended for the continued strengthening of the profound, powerful, and ever-growing relationship between Nepal and India.
